Digital Water Value Chain

Digital solutions are essential for applying zero-waste principles and making the most of opportunities for value creation. A robust and healthy water system keeps the right quantity and quality of water in the right place at all times. Aquafin is investigating the possibilities of a multi-agent system that not only optimises the process but also has a positive impact on the use of energy and materials.

The digitalisation of the water chain is an indispensible lever for maximising smart controls and reuse of waste flows. Aquafin is partner in the Internet of Water, together with imec, the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO), Vlakwa, the Flemish Environment Agency and drinking water company De Watergroep. In this project a network of 2,000 connected sensors will be rolled out to provide information in real time on the PH, conductivity and temperature of surface water, groundwater and sewage.
